Gemstone recommendations are one of the most commercialised corners of astrology — and one of the most misunderstood. In Vedic astrology (Jyotisha), the traditional idea is that a stone associated with a planet may be worn to support that planet's themes in your birth chart.
The trouble is that this gets flattened into "your sign is Scorpio, so wear red coral" — sun-sign astrology with none of the chart analysis that is supposed to justify the recommendation. Traditionally, a suggestion comes from a practitioner studying your specific placements, and many astrologers advise caution with certain stones.
If you decide to buy one, two things matter more than the price: independent laboratory certification (not just the seller's word) and a seller who will stand behind it and accepts returns. Natural untreated stones and treated ones can look identical to an untrained eye but differ greatly in value.
Treat any gemstone as a personal or cultural practice, not a guaranteed remedy, and never as a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.
